Constructed in the Second Empire style with Neo-Grec detailing, the house had remained largely unchanged (with the exception of an unsympathetic structure added to the back) until new owners took over with the intent of preserving the historical character but adding modern amenities and space for their expanding art collection. The entire house was gutted and reconfigured. The main stair at the center of the house was relocated to provide space for a large living room/gallery. A new steel-and-glass addition accommodates a modern kitchen and is visually and physically connected to a new garden.
