This blatantly romantic odor shifts imperceptibly, but pragmatically, to last summer's lawn, 400 square feet of inverted sod, and the backbreak of middle age. Most recently added, the tang of horse manure, now smelling of mushrooms, reminder of that day last January. It was 28°, my nose ran, my head ached, and the manure and straw was steeped in urine.
I like flagstone. It is very rock-like, whether in irregular or cut pieces. It goes well with real rocks and equally well with the outdoors or the indoors. It does not seem to harbor algae. It looks good with plants. In large pieces it is heavy and not so easily heaved as bricks.
