Several of the examples (relating to both famous and less well-known buildings) naturally relate to areas of the country which are best-known to the author. The architecture of medieval Bedfordshire deserves to be better-known by a wider audience, and Kent is pivotal as the birthplace of the Gothic style in England. This is not to say that buildings in other parts of the country are less interesting or significant, and a wide spread of examples are mentioned from Cornwall to Scotland.
