All three tribes faced serious threats to their tribal integrity at various times due to reduction of trusteeship responsibilities, assimilation, migration, and a variety of social ills. Despite the challenges to their tribal integrity the recognized tribes of Texas have not only maintained their existence, but they have flourished.
