Our present knowing of the elemental construction blocks of the Universe, summarised through the traditional version of particle physics, is incomplete. for instance, it fails to give an explanation for why we don't see equivalent, or virtually equivalent, numbers of debris and their antiparticle companions. to give an explanation for this asymmetry calls for, between different results, a mechanism often called charge-parity (CP) violation that motives ameliorations among the charges at which debris and antiparticles decay. CP violation is obvious in platforms containing backside and weird quarks, yet now not in people with up, allure or best quarks. This thesis describes searches for particle-antiparticle asymmetries within the decay premiums of charmed mesons. No proof of CP violation is located. With present sensitivities, an asymmetry sufficiently big to monitor most likely couldn't be defined via the normal version. in its place an evidence may well come from new physics, for instance contributions from supersymmetric or different undiscovered heavy debris. within the thesis, the improvement of recent ideas to go looking for those asymmetries is defined. they're utilized to information from the LHCb test at CERN to make designated measurements of asymmetries within the D^+->K^-K^+pi^+ decay channel. this can be the main promising charged D decay for CP violation searches.

3. The gases and aerogel in the RICH detectors are contained within large Al boxes. The RICH1 box is 300 µm thick inside the acceptance on the upstream side, and contains an aperture filled with CFRP in the acceptance on the downstream side to reduce the material budget. As RICH2 is larger, the pressure differential is greater so two 1mm -thick carbon fibre and Al skins are separated by 30 mm of foam in the entrance and exit windows respectively. The HPDs are arranged in a hexagonal pattern outside the RICHes.
