ACT IV--SCENE 4 Summary On the battlefield, Pistol enters with a captured French soldier who mistakes Pistol for a gentleman of high quality. " (Oh, Lord God). " Pistol then rants and raves, causing the Frenchman to say: "O, prenez miséricorde! " (Oh, take mercy on me! ) Again, Pistol is confused; he thinks that the word "moi" means "moy," a coin of some denomination, and he asserts that he wants at least forty "moys" or else he will cut the Frenchman's throat. After further misunderstanding, Pistol calls for the Boy to come and translate.

After Henry VIII's death, England endured the Western Rebellion of 1549; during Elizabeth's reign there occurred the Rebellion of 1569, as well as plots against the queen's life, notably the Babington Plot, which led to the trial, conviction, and execution of Mary, Queen of Scots.
