Contrary to the one of the Ducal Palace in Genoa, it is made of very small steel sections, which give a particular feature of lightness (Fig. 47). A very famous building in Turin is the so-called "Mole Antonelliana", from the name of its designer Alessandro Antonelli. It is 167 m high, made of stone and brick with iron ties (Fig. 48). At that time (1863) it was the tallest masonry building in the World. Its first destination was as Jewish temple (the Synagogue of Turin), but during construction it was bought by the Municipality for a museum.
