The Iga Formation, composed mainly of gravel and sand, is distributed around the northern and western sides of the Iga Basin. The sediment grain size is coarsest at the western end, which shows that the sediment was supplied from the west. This formation characteristically contains gravel derived from the Koto Rhyolitic Rocks, which are distributed around the present lake (Kawabe 1989).
