Aspects that at first seem unrelated are quickly brought into a single perspective; for example assessment strategies can be quickly checked to see they are consistent with other features of that particular mode.
Such approaches always turn out to be only partial answers. Nor can a single approach suit a particular school subject. Since national curricula have a wide range of aims and teaching and learning are complex phenomena, it is unlikely there is one best way to teach to realise them. Teaching needs to be seen as an area for careful research and development within a wide and realistic framework.
